Inside Edge Home Inspections Ltd. was created with a simple mission: to provide the highest quality home inspection services at unbeatable value specifically tailored to our individual client needs. So why did I choose this path and decide to become a professional home inspector?
The story begins as a child growing up in Newfoundland. My Grandfather, in particular, was a highly skilled carpenter who took a ramshackle cottage that was almost fit for the wrecking ball and singlehandedly transformed it into a beautiful property that was nicer than most houses. We moved to Nova Scotia when I was still a child but I always looked forward to our regular visits back to the Rock and of course the "Cabin". It wasn't until I got much older did I appreciate his amazing eye for detail and incredible knowledge of all aspects of home construction.
Once I turned 16, I looked at a certain Green and Yellow home improvement warehouse that recently opened in Dartmouth and decided that I was going to work there. In March of that year I was hired, where I quickly learned from fellow employees who were as passionate about homes as I was. Throughout my time at that store I was able to help many customers with their issues and concerns and learned all about homes and where the biggest problem areas were. In short, I loved that job, enjoyed exceeding my customer's expectations in every way but knew I was destined for so much more.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, I eventually found myself working in building operations & maintenance, leading to a successful career in that field. I had the opportunity to take the Class II Building Operator's Certificate program at NSCC, where it quickly become apparent I had a natural talent for the systematic thinking necessary for success. After graduating the program with High Honours and helping to mentor fellow students along the way, I quickly gained a number of additional certificates. After buying our first home with my spouse, I couldn't help but follow the home inspector around and quickly realized due to my extensive background in building services I have a very strong understanding of residential systems and could share that knowledge with others.
I was inspired to satiate my entrepreneurial spirit and, with the support of my family, was able to start the journey into becoming a Professional Home Inspector. I completed the Certificate in Home Inspection program through Dalhousie University, joined the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) and finished all the steps required to become a Certified Professional Inspector (CPI). I knew the only logical step was to form my own company and build our brand from the bottom up. Combined with my extensive business education, I am able to provide my high quality services at an unmatched level of value where I pass the savings onto you, my client.
I am pleased to be entrusted to help you in building your dreams and to help keep your family safe and comfortable within your budget. As both a homeowner and a home inspector, I know buying, selling or even just everyday living in a home can be an exciting yet stressful and at times overwhelming experience and you are looking for someone to be on your side. No matter how much we continue to grow our commitment to superior service and outstanding quality will remain.
